Tune on a Distant Hill is no ordinary show; it's a collage of sight and sound, a kaleidoscope of dance, music, and monologues. Weaving together colorful tales of the Green Mountain Mermaid and the fabled "Pig Man" with the personal narratives of hardworking farmers, restless youth, wealthy transplants, and undervalued migrant workers, Tune on a Distant Hill paints a vivid and poignant portrait of Vermont life.

Strike Anywhere and Chandler Center for the Arts invite you to experience Tune on a Distant Hill and immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of Central Vermont! The show will be Soundpainted - a unique live-composing sign language that allows a composer/conductor to create spontaneous compositions with improvisers in real time. Strike Anywhere is the preeminent Soundpainting ensemble in the U.S.
Strike Anywhere Performance Ensemble Residency
Tune on a Distant Hill
In 2023 Chandler received a grant from an anonymous family foundation to create a play exploring themes and issues of social justice through the stories of residents in our central Vermont community. We hope you’ll join and be a part of this collaborative project. There will be two week-long residencies with company artists, with workshops August 19-25, 2024, followed by the final production September 30-October 6.
